GM is working on its own electric pickupJune 7, 2019
This was told the president of the American concern GM. So far, there is no official data on what kind of model in question. According to rumors, a fully electric version may appear in the current full-size Silverado.
The American concern General Motors has said several times that at the present time, their engineers are working (or are only going to develop) their own electric pickup. GMC Brand Vice President (part of GM) Duncan Aldred was the first to comment on this in January of this year. Then he said that the electric pickup is what the company really needs.
In April, during the announcement of GM’s financial results for the first quarter, CEO Mary Barra continued to “light the fire” around the subject of an electric pickup. This leads us to GM President Mark Royce, who recently said that the automaker will not only have an electric pickup. According to him, he is already in development.
“We will have a full electric range, including a pickup that is under construction,” said Mr. Reuss in an interview.
According to Reuss, GM’s third-generation global EV platform will support almost 10 different body styles. However, he did not say specifically whether the pickup (apparently Chevrolet Silverado) would ride on the same platform or not. Instead, he noted that the target EV architecture would reduce the overall cost of the model due to its scale. Royce added that the platform supports front, rear and all-wheel drive.
