Ford introduced the sixth generation Explorer SUV at a special event in Detroit. Car sales should start this summer. In the US, prices for new items start at $ 32,765. Production models will be adjusted at the plant in Chicago.

The basis of the sixth generation SUV was the new modular rear-wheel drive architecture of the CD6. Optionally available and all-wheel drive system. Most body panels are made of steel. The machine is equipped with a dual-zone automatic climate control, 8-inch touch screen and an upgraded infotainment system SYNC 3 with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Explorer is equipped with an emergency braking system, a hold function in the lane and a rear-view camera. Optionally available are adaptive cruise control, parking assistance, all-round vision cameras, B & O audio system with 14 speakers and a wireless smartphone charger.

The same 2.3-liter “turbo-four” EcoBoost, which on the current model develops 284 power, entered the engine line. Now the power of this unit has been increased to 300 horsepower.

The three-liter bi-turbo V6 has come to replace the top 3.5-liter engine with two turbines, which returns 370 horsepower. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Later, the SUV will get a hybrid version. This powerplant has already debuted on the police version of Ford Explorer and includes a 3.3-liter V6 engine, an electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
