The Italian brand will release three new crossover. Models will enter the market by 2022.
Three SUV Fiat lit up in the business plan of the concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), designed for 2018-2022. Under the Italian brand will produce crossovers of A- and B-classes, as well as a three-row crossover, which the company attributed to the segment of Low D. All three new products will be focused mainly on Latin American markets. Note that Fiat has plants in Brazil and Argentina, so that the release of models, most likely, will establish in these countries.
Information on the new crosses for segments A and B is not yet available, but rumors of a seven-seater SUV that would replace Freemont have been circulating since 2016. According to unofficial data, this SUV will be built on the basis of the Fiat Toro pickup truck, which is also designed for Latin America. The truck, in turn, is built on an extended version of the Small US Wide 4 × 4 platform, also the underlying Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass. Platform assumes a load-bearing body structure, a transverse engine arrangement and an independent rear suspension. It is expected that the front flagship crossover Fiat will differ little from Toro.
The engines of the three-row cross are likely to get from the pickup: in Brazil, for example, Toro is available with EtorQ 1.8 (135 hp petrol and 139 hp ethanol) and Tigershark 2.4 (174/186 hp), and also with turbodiesel MultiJet II 2.0 (170 hp). Transmission – 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic Aisin or 9-speed automatic ZF, drive – front or full.
Another Fiat plans to introduce two electric cars: a new “green” version of the compact 500 and a modification for which the name Giardiniera will be revived. Fiat 500 current generation already has an electric version, such a compact is equipped with a 111-horsepower electric motor, the power reserve is about 160 km. Under the name Fiat 500 Giardiniera in the 1960s produced a three-door station wagon. However, the 500 Giardiniera of the new generation will most likely have a five-door body.
Recall, on June 1, a meeting of investors of the FCA concern took place, new models for the brands Jeep, Alfa Romeo and Maserati were announced within its framework. By the way, it was expected that today the fate of the brand Chrysler will clear up, however, during the event it was not mentioned, in the published FCA reports this brand is also not mentioned.
