The Ferrari company is preparing a charged modification of the supercar 488 GTB, which, perhaps, will receive the traditional name GTO (Gran Turismo Omologata). The model will become the most powerful civil car of the brand, equipped with an eight-cylinder engine. The first information about this machine was published by the site of FerrariPhotoPage.
The novelty will be equipped with an upgraded version of the engine, which is installed on the racing version of the Ferrari 488 Challenge. Thus, the supercar will receive a turbocharged V8 with a capacity of 3.9 liters, which will be able to issue about 700 horsepower. The engine itself will weigh about ten percent less than the usual 488.
The GTO modification will receive the largest amount of carbon in the construction than in any other Ferrari road car. Carbon fiber made hood, both bumper, rear spoiler, also the dashboard and the central tunnel. Due to new elements of the body kit, the aerodynamic performance of the car will improve by 20 percent.
In addition, the supercar will have a lighter interior, aluminum floor panels, rims that are lighter than the standard ones by 40 percent, the Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires, an active rear spoiler. Also in the model, in comparison with the usual 488 GTB, the steering and transmission settings will change.
It is expected that the premiere of the supercar will take place in March at the Motor Show in Geneva.
