Great news for the fans of the Spanish company SEAT – thanks to funding from Volkswagen, a new line of cars will constantly increase. And the company will be positioned as a sports division of the German brand. This suggests that the new models of the Spanish brand will receive the most advanced technologies, steep design and powerful engines.
Now it became known that the separate brand Cupra already in 2020 can make its debut with a compact crossover Arona. And if this turns out to be true, then we can see a completely unique small car with a 200-horsepower two-liter turbo. But most likely, the first model will be the “charged” hatchback Leon, which will be presented until 2020.
Well, not 100% unique, as you can easily recall the models of other manufacturers – such as Juke Nismo and the old JCW Countryman. But Cupra Arona can become a truly massive car, as it has the name of a well-deserved brand, and must enter the affordable segment, in which there will be few competitors.
Of course, 200 horsepower is not the limit of dreams, but this power is developed thanks to a two-liter turbo engine, with 320 Nm of torque. Moreover, further forcing (even at the expense of chip-tuning) will be available for relatively small amounts.
The car will be built on the common modular platform Volkswagen – MQB A0. It has already successfully implemented the Polo GTI in 2018. Thanks to this platform, SEAT will have a fairly compact car, with a high degree of protection, a spacious interior and ample opportunities for further modification. And the unification of spare parts with many cars of the German concern will significantly reduce the cost of the model itself.
