The production of the XC40 is set up at the Belgian Volvo plant.
The grand opening ceremony of the serial production of the XC40 was attended by the Prime Minister of Belgium Charles Michel and the head of Volvo Håkan Samuelsson. The world premiere of SUV took place in September this year. According to Volvo, brand dealers have already issued more than 13,000 orders for a novelty, and the first customers will get their cars in early 2018.
The crossover is built on the CMA platform, developed by Volvo together with the parent company Geely. The length of the model is 4 425 mm, width – 1,863 mm, height – 1,652 mm, wheelbase size is 2,702 mm. While the Volvo XC40 is available with all-wheel drive and two four-cylinder two-liter turbomotors – 190-horsepower diesel D4 or 247-horsepower petrol T5. The engines are paired with an eight-speed “automatic”. Later the cars with front-wheel drive, hybrid and fully electric versions, and the XC40 with a brand-new three-cylinder engine will enter the market.
The list of new equipment includes: a system of semi-autonomous control Pilot Assist, City Safety, a system of circular video review, roadside warning and warning of vehicles moving in the transverse direction, wireless charging, multimedia complex with a large touch screen.
In some countries, XC40 prices have already been announced. For example, in Sweden the crossover costs from 398 900 kroons, which is equivalent to about 2 783 000 rubles at the current rate. In Germany, the price of the model starts from a mark of 44 800 euros (about 3 105 000 rubles),
