Compact crossover Kia XCeed makes its debut in GenevaJanuary 29, 2019
There are not many crossovers – apparently they thought so in the leadership of the South Korean brand Kia. At the Geneva Motor Show, a new crossover will be presented, created on the basis of the new generation Ceed model.
It is assumed that the new model of the automaker will call XCeed, which is a clear reference to its origin – the Ceed hatchback was used for its current generation as its platform. In the model range of the company, the novelty will be located between the crossovers Stonic and Sportage, and the official presentation will be held at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019. The car will go on sale at the end of this year.
Last year we saw “spy” photos of the prototype of the new XCeed crossover. Its size, technical content, as well as the proposed price range will allow it to be compared with the German Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, the American Ford Focus Active and the Japanese Subaru XV / Crosstrek.
It will also become the fourth member of the new Ceed family, in addition to the hatchback and the wagon Sportswagon and ProCeed.
Despite the updated appearance and increased ground clearance compared to the conventional Ceed, the XCeed is believed to retain front-wheel drive. However, the South Korean automaker could equip it with several special driving modes that would be set up to improve the grip on the road on slippery surfaces, such as snow and ice.
The engine range will include all the motors that are available for the rest of Ceed versions. Thus, potential buyers should expect a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder and 1.4-liter gasoline engines with 118 and 138 hp respectively. 1.6-liter diesel 114 hp can also be offered.
