Following the cross-version of Activ, Chevrolet introduced the usual updated Spin van. Both versions are already available on the Brazilian market.
The front-drive single-section Chevy Spin 4.4 meters in length is produced from 2012, it is designed primarily for the countries of South America. Compactvan divides the platform and units with the sedan Cobalt, both models are produced in Brazil. Spin has two versions – standard and off-road, the latter has the prefix Activ. Restyling cross-country Brazilian division Chevrolet presented in late June this year, and now debuted Spin.
Both versions received new headlights and a radiator grille in the style of a refreshed Cobalt (in South America, a modernized sedan is sold from the end of 2015), as well as other lanterns. The rear number moved to the luggage door, which changed the shape. Standard Spin differs from the version of Activ by the absence of a black plastic body kit around the body and door moldings, in addition, the conventional compactvan has differently designed fog lights.
Salons are identical (the difference is only in the materials of the finish): both versions got a gadget from the Chevrolet Tracker with an analog speedometer instead of the previous virtual, the other front panel and the steering wheel. Like the pre-reform model, the restyling standard Spin is available in five- or seven-seat versions. For the average passenger of the second row, a three-point safety belt (previously – belt) and a headrest are provided, and separate parts of the sofa can be moved along the rails in the range of 110 mm. By the way, the seven-seat version is now also in Spin Activ, whereas previously the crossover was offered only with two rows of seats.
Among the new equipment is a rear view camera and a rain sensor. Even for Spin, cruise control, a multimedia system with a touch screen, air conditioning, ABS and EBD, 15- or 16-inch wheels are provided. But the model still has only two airbags.
The motor is the same: in Brazil and Spin, and Spin Activ (as well as Cobalt) are equipped with a 1.8 Flex engine, running both on petrol (106 hp) and on ethanol (111 hp). The motor is combined with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The manual gearbox has not changed, but the automatic gearbox has been reconfigured – it switches gears faster.
In the Brazilian market, the prices of the standard model increased by 1,640 – 5,600 reais. The restyling Spin now costs 63,990 – 81,990 reais, while in the average package the compact is now offered not only with manual transmission, but also with automatic transmission. Five-new updated Spin Activ will cost 79,990 reais – this is 3 040 reals or 49,000 rubles more than asking for the predecessor. Seven-seat crossover costs 83,490 reais. The off-road version is equipped with 6-speed automatic transmission.
