The French brand revealed the passenger version of Berlingo third generation. The van will make its debut later this year.
Van Citroen Berlingo first generation entered the market in 1996, in 2008 debuted the Frenchman of the second generation. As stated in the company, in just 22 years, more than 3.3 million cargo and passenger versions were produced. And last year in 17 countries the second Berlingo became the most popular model of the brand. The new generation is designed to consolidate this success.
The third Berlingo is built on the EMP2 platform, which lies in almost all the latest models of the PSA group. The minivan will be available for the first time in two versions – M and XL. The length of the “short” is 4.4 meters, the wheelbase is 2.78 meters. In the “stretched” version, these dimensions are 4.75 and 2.97 meters, respectively. The width and height of M and XL are the same – 1.85 and 1.81 (without rails) meter. Both variants will be offered with five seats, for the XL version, a third row of seats is optionally available. In the five-seater Berlingo M, the luggage compartment volume is 775 liters (100 liters more than its predecessor), Berlingo XL has 1,050 liters in double-row capacity.
The design of the third generation model is made in the corporate style of the brand. On the sides there are Airbump pads, which prevent minor damage. In the cabin – a multimedia system with a “soaring” 8-inch touch screen, there are many different boxes and niches for storing small things, instead of folding “windows” in sliding doors, there are electric windows. On the front panel there are two glove boxes, the second one was placed by moving the passenger airbag to the ceiling. The backs of all passenger seats are folded, forming a practically flat floor.
The list of equipment also includes: a projection display, a panoramic roof, adaptive cruise control, wireless charging for smartphones, a warning system for leaving the occupied band, monitoring driver fatigue, recognizing traffic signs, monitoring blind areas and automatically switching headlights.
The new Citroen Berlingo will be offered with a three-cylinder petrol turbo engine 1.2 PureTech with a capacity of 110 or 130 hp. The basic version is combined with a six-speed manual transmission, the top one with an eight-speed automatic transmission (Berlingo with 8АКП goes on sale in 2019). Also, buyers will be available cars with a new generation 1.5 turbo diesel engine with BlueHDi output of 75, 100 or 130 hp. For the 130-horsepower diesel, 6MKP or 8KKP are provided, the remaining options are aggregated by the MCP.
The public premiere of the new generation Citroen Berlingo minivan will take place in March at the Geneva Motor Show. On the European market, the model will be released in the second half of the year, after which a cargo modification will be presented.
