Chevrolet patented the roof of the Corvette engine compartment

How many rumors (sometimes incredible), “spy” photos, we have already heard and seen about the new American sports car. Not so long ago, our publication published a 3D model of a mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette.

At this time, it became known about the cover of the engine of the long-awaited novelty – the corresponding application was filed with the US Patent Office.

It turns out that it was filed back in July 2016 by the guys from the American automobile concern GM. It is curious that in all the documents for the new part of the Chevrolet Corvette, not a word is said about the sports Corvette.

The registered “rear” hood is described as a vented engine cover and is designed for a sports car with an average and rear engine. Of course, the sketch of the vehicle was also presented – for example. And I must say that the latter is very similar to those images of the new Chevrolet Corvette, which we have seen recently.

In general, the case is solved – such a hood is designed specifically for the receiver of the American news. That’s just not entirely clear, why did General Motors decide to patent this particular part of the model? In fact, this is not just an ordinary “engine cover” – thanks to its clever design, ventilation is organized in such a way as to extract heat from the engine compartment as much as possible. For this, the ventilation system includes a magnetic grid in the frame. I must say that this sounds very surprising – in general, American engineers are not so sickly confused!
