Chevrolet intrigues: new crossover and mysterious modelNovember 9, 2018
The official premiere of the new American brand will be held next week. Mark is trying to keep the intrigue, but one of the models has already been identified.
A week later, on November 16, an international auto show will open in Guangzhou, China. Chevrolet will bring the FNR-CarryAll crossover and a kind of mid-size car, called the Monza, to the exhibition. While the brand has distributed only one teaser of these models, both of them make their debut in the “RS” version, the features are black emblems and a radiator grille with a pattern in the form of “cells”. Other information about the machines is kept secret.
Despite Chevrolet’s attempt to “play intrigue,” the cross was still able to be recognized – in China, they will present a local version of the Blazer. Recall the world premiere of SUV held in June this year in the United States. The model’s name got from the frame SUV, which was produced from 1969 to 2011, and only it unites a novelty with the former Blazer: a SUV carrying body, transversely located engine and basic front-wheel drive.
For the US, the crossover will be assembled in Mexico, but for China it will probably be produced at the local joint venture plant of the concerns General Motors and SAIC. Probably, a pre-production sample will be shown in Guangzhou – this explains its name (meanwhile, the appearance of the new Blazer is based on last year’s FNR-X concept). Judging by the teaser, there will be no differences in the design of the American Blazer and the Chinese FNR-CarryAll. However, the Chinese media punish the seven-seater version of the model, but the “American” does not have this.
In the US, the Chevrolet Blazer will offer 2.5 (194 hp, 255 Nm) and V6 3.6 (309 hp, 365 Nm) petrol engine, both engines are combined with a nine-speed automatic transmission, with an extra charge available rear axle coupling. In China, a commodity crossover may appear turbo. Blazer will enter the American market in the beginning of 2019, in the Celestial Model, most likely, will appear in the second half of next year.
The task to keep the intrigue in relation to another premiere for Guangzhou-2018 – Monza – the brand coped with “excellent”, because even the Chinese specialized media are perplexed, there is no information about the car. In the Chevrolet release, it is only stated that this car “inherited the sporting genes” of the brand “in conjunction with youth design”. Apparently, the new product was developed with an eye on the Chevrolet Monza coupe, produced in the 70-80s of the last century, although it is possible that not a completely new car, but a sports version of one of the current models will be brought to Guangzhou. By the way, in 1970-1980. its own Monza was also owned by the Opel brand, which GM recently sold to the French concern PSA Group.
