BMW has revealed some technical details about the top-of-the-line “civil” modification of the new generation 8-series coupe – the M850i xDrive. The two-door coupe will receive a “completely redesigned” V8 engine, an active rear differential and a mode switching system.
The return of the new G-8 will increase by 67 forces and 100 Nm of torque and will be 530 horsepower and 750 Nm respectively (available from 1800 rpm). Combine the unit will be with an eight-speed automatic transmission with the possibility of manual gear changes.
With body rolls in the BMW M850i xDrive, an adaptive sports suspension with electronically controlled struts and active electromechanical stabilizers of lateral stability will fight. In combination with a stiffer body and a lower center of gravity, this will “improve driving performance and handling characteristics.”
In addition, the coupe is equipped with a sports exhaust system and steering wheel rear wheels.
According to preliminary information, sales of the sports car of the BMW 8-series will begin before the end of this year.
In March, at the Geneva Motor Show, BMW introduced a prototype called the BMW M8 Gran Coupe. The novelty demonstrated how the four-door version of the revived G-8 will look. Technical details about the car are not reported.
