BMW abandoned 3 Series GTMarch 16, 2019
BMW has officially confirmed that it does not plan to release a successor for the current generation 3 Series GT. Despite the fact that the model is in good demand, the company plans to reduce the complexity of the line.
One of the reasons for the rejection of a number of models was the increase in their cost, rising prices for materials, political uncertainty and a slowdown in the global economy, which is why international trade conflicts arise.
Nevertheless, BMW plans to expand its range of rechargeable hybrid and all-electric cars. By 2021, the company will release five electric vehicles, including i3, iX3, i4, iNext and MINI Electric, and by 2025 their number will increase to 12.
In addition, BMW pays special attention to autonomous driving technologies, and in 2021 cars with semi-autonomous control system of the 3rd level will be put into operation, which will be able to drive along the tracks at a speed of up to 130 km / h without driver participation, but with its presence.
In the same year of 2021, a pilot program will be launched with the participation of vehicles of the 4th and 5th levels of autonomy. The latter will be completely autonomous, and will be able to reach speeds of up to 70 km / h, and such vehicles will work in urban environments.
