The German brand has transformed the virtual car from the game Gran Turismo into a fully working supercar, which will act as a “racing taxi” in the Formula E championship
Company Audi has presented 815-strong electric supercar under the name e-tron Vision Gran Turismo. Initially, the novelty was developed as a virtual car for the Gran Turismo simulator on the PlayStation 4 console, but the Germans decided to create a real electric car.
According to the developers, the transformation of a virtual supercar into a fully working prototype became possible, since a computer car was created taking into account the prospect of building a fully functional vehicle.
Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo was equipped with three electric motors of 200 kW each (about 272 horsepower). Two engines are installed on the rear axle, and the third engine drives the front wheels. In total, the aggregates produce 600 kW, which is equivalent to 815 horsepower. The electric car was also equipped with a smart traction distribution system between the wheels.
The weight of the novelty does not exceed 1450 kilograms. Thus, the mass-to-power ratio was 1.78 kg per horsepower. In addition, the car has an ideal weight distribution – 50:50.
The public debut of the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo will be held April 14 in Rome at the stage of the electric car championship Formula E. The electric supercar will act as a “racing taxi”, where customers and guests of Audi can ride along the track as passengers.
