Better late than never? Audi presented its plans for the electrification of its lineup. In the second half of next year, another model that will compete with the American Tesla Model 3 will join the already existing E-Tron crossover and its stylish version of the E-Tron Sportback, as well as the sports E-Tron GT. and the electric version of the crossover E-Tron Q4.
By the middle of the next decade, Audi will have a total of 12 purely electric models, including crossovers, sedans, station wagons and hatchbacks.
Speaking about the competitor Tesla Model 3, it is known that the new product will receive dimensions similar to the A4 model. This was told to the publication Autocar chief designer of the company Mark Lichte.
He confirmed that the development of the electric sedan has already begun. The new model with zero emissions will be built on the same PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform as the E-Tron GT, which, by the way, will be about the same size as the A6 sedan.
This platform is a joint development of engineers Audi and Porsche. The first models based on PPE should appear on the market by the end of 2021. In the case of Audi, the PPE will be used on different models.
According to the British edition, an electric car Audi A4 sizes will be on sale in 2023. If so, this may mean that we will see its serial version as early as 2022.
