Audi is going to more actively develop hydrogen fuel cell technologies. The reason for this is the company’s concern about the resources for the production of batteries and the ability of electric cars to meet customer requirements.

The company decided to restore its h-tron program and make it central to the entire structure of the Volkswagen concern for the development and study of hydrogen fuel cell technologies.

One of the leaders of Audi has already confirmed that a new prototype of the 6th generation fuel cell will be presented this year, and in 2021, a fuel cell production model Audi could be offered to customers.

It is expected that it will be produced on a special line of the Audi plant in Neckarsulm in Germany, which currently produces the A6, A7 and A8 models.

The schedule for mass production of Audi FCEV models has not yet been determined, but the company is confident that this may happen in the second half of the next decade. New fuel cell technology developed in partnership with Hyundai, which already sells the Nexo fuel cell crossover.
