Audi Holoride technology turns trips into virtual gamesJanuary 11, 2019
According to representatives of the company Audi, the technology of virtual reality will be shown over the next three years. In the future, it will be possible to use the connection between the car and the infrastructure of the city to display the current situation on the roads.
Engineers of the German brand Audi decided to bring virtual reality technology to the automotive world. At the ongoing consumer electronics exhibition CES-2019 in Las Vegas, the guys showed their own development, which received the name Holoride. It is reported that VR glasses are necessary for its full-fledged work – they will be available to passengers in the rear seats.
People wearing glasses can enjoy the virtual world, which in turn will be fully synchronized with the movements of the car.
“If the car turns in reality, the passenger with glasses turns around the nearby spacecraft. If Audi E-Tron is accelerating, the ship in virtual reality does the same thing, ”the guys from Audi explain in a press release.
According to the company’s engineers, Holoride technology uses an open platform that other automakers and developers can freely use and create various applications based on it. For the demonstration, a scene from the Marvel’s Avengers: Rocket’s Rescue Run game was used.
A feature of Holoride at the moment is the ability to synchronize various virtual worlds with the movements of a passenger vehicle. Well, in the future it will be possible to use the connection between the machine and the infrastructure of the city to display the current situation on the roads.
The German brand believes that Holoride technology will be available to the company’s customers over the next three years.
