Aston Martin spoke about the version of the model Vantage in the back of a roadsterMarch 15, 2019
More than a year has passed since the release of the Vantage coupe, and just now, the British brand Aston Martin announced that the version of the car with an open roof will be presented in the “very near future.”
In an interview with the Australian magazine Car Advice, Marek Reichman, the chief creative director of the British brand, confirmed that the Aston Martin Vantage roadster is almost ready for production. Some more tests are needed, but Mr. Reichman announced that the official presentation was scheduled for the end of 2019.
This is good news. The bad news is related to the V12 engine, which apparently will not have to wait for new items. When the creative director was asked about the prospects of the Vantage model with this engine, Reichman said that it would be “too much,” although he admitted that he liked the V12 engine.
Also, there is not a word about the long-awaited manual gearbox, so this means that buyers can only be content with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
If the V12 has no chance for the future, this means that the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster will use the same 4.0-liter V8 engine as the coupe version. It produces 503 horsepower and torque of 685 Nm. Due to the fact that the weight of the new items will be slightly higher than that of his “sibling”, the roadster is likely to be a little slower in the sprint to 100 km / h. Nevertheless, the McLaren company recently demonstrated that their convertible is going no worse than the coupe version. As for the maximum speed Vantage, it should be at the same level as the standard Vantage – we are talking about 314 km / h.
