The Indian company Mahindra revealed all the details about its new SUV XUV300. For buyers, the model is available with gasoline and diesel engines, while the box is the same.

The design of the new Mahindra XUV300 was declassified last December, and today a full-fledged presentation of the car took place in India and the sales started. Recall that SUV is not designed by Indians from scratch – it is built on the basis of SsangYong Tivoli (Mahindra owns the Korean brand). By the way, the original Tivoli was sold in India, but the imported model failed there. XUV300 is produced at the local plant.

The front part of the XUV300 was made in the style of the older crossover Mahindra XUV500: the novelty received a similar grille and L-shaped daytime running lights. The food is original, but the shape of the rear doors is the same as that of the donor Korean. To XUV300 fell into the preferential tax category, its length was cut to 3995 mm (in Tivoli – 4202 mm), the wheelbase has not changed – 2600 mm.

The interior is almost the same as that of the Korean cross, the only difference is in the details: the XUV300 has a different steering wheel and tidy, beige plastic, the center console is slightly different. At the same time, the Indian trunk volume is only 265 liters, while the donor’s figure is 423 liters. In the list of basic equipment Mahindra XUV300 appear a pair of airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors. The top versions already have seven “airbags”, a multimedia system with a touch screen, a rear-view camera, climate control and cruise control.

Engines “indians” from the donor crossover did not get: XUV300 is offered with a 1.2 petrol turbo engine (110 hp) and a 1.5 turbo diesel (117 hp) developed by Mahindra. While the SUV is only available with a six-speed manual transmission, later it will have a robotic box. SsangYong Tivoli is equipped with an engine 1.6 power of 128 hp. and a 115-horsepower diesel engine of a similar volume, both of which work in tandem with a 6MKP or 6AKP. The drive for the XUV300 is only front, although the Korean has 4WD versions. But the XUV300 is promised a fully electric version, such a cross will enter the market in 2020. Information about the installation of “green” SUV is not disclosed.

The price of the gasoline Mahindra XUV300 starts from 790,000 rupees, which is equivalent to about 735,000 rubles at the current rate. A crossover with a diesel engine will cost at least 849,000 rupees – about 790,000 rubles. The main competitors are cheaper: the price of Tata Nexon – from 636,000 rupees, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza – from 767,000 rupees, and Ford EcoSport – from 782,000 rupees. Meanwhile, the Indian media attributed the XUV300 and the Hyundai Creta crossover to rivals, although this “Korean” is longer than the model of the Indian brand – 4270 mm (wheelbase – 2590 mm). And the price of Creta is already much higher – from 960,000 rupees .

According to preliminary information, Mahindra is going to export the XUV300. The countries in which the cross may appear are not yet named. However, the novelty will not get to Korea, of course.
