Toyota will have to conduct a large-scale recall campaign, which will affect about 115,000 Lexus IS and GS cars. The reason for the recall was a possible fuel leak and spontaneous combustion due to this.
Toyota Motor North America, Inc. announced that it is organizing a review affecting the Lexus IS and GS models because of the possible risk of a fuel leak that could lead to a fire. This became known CarsWeek.ru from the press service of Toyota.
The recalled vehicles include the Lexus IS 350 2006-2013, the IS 350C 2010-2014 and the GS 350 2007-2011, and the GS 450h. According to the manufacturer, in the United States will recall about 115,000 units.
The recalled models are equipped with the same 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. The reason for the recall was the fact that the diaphragm material in the fuel pressure sensor of this engine can harden and crack, which can lead to a fuel leak. Naturally, fuel in the engine compartment, when the slightest spark arises, can ignite.
As part of the revocable campaign, the fuel system of vehicles will be diagnosed, and if necessary, the tubes and sensors will be replaced with new ones. All works will be carried out exclusively at the expense of the automaker. The recall of cars will begin in August this year, and all owners will be notified privately.
At the moment there is not a single officially registered case of fire, injury, or accident related to the detected malfunction.
The company Toyota separately notes that the forced maintenance can spread to other models, as will be discussed later. In addition to the fact that the automaker will personally notify each owner of recalled vehicles, on the official portal of the American division of the company it will be possible to check its vehicle for the need for a recall.
Also recall that 10 years ago, the world saw the world’s first charged “Lexus” from the manufacturer. In honor of the first round date, the company decided to present a special anniversary version of the RC F 10th Anniversary coupe.
