Company Kia has presented a hatchback Ceed of new generation. The manufacturer changed the spelling of the model name, removing the apostrophe, changed the design of the exterior and interior, and expanded the equipment list. The public debut of the car will take place in early March at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new Ceed kept the independent suspension “in a circle”, but changed the platform: now instead of the chassis of the J4, a stronger and lightweight K2 truck is used. Overall dimensions of the hatchback remained almost unchanged. At the same length, the car was only 20 millimeters wider and 23 millimeters below. The size of the wheelbase at the same time remained the same – 2650 millimeters.
The capacity of the trunk increased by 15 liters – up to 395 liters.
Hatchback will be offered with a 100-horsepower gasoline engine atmospheric 1.4 liter turbocharged engine capacity and 120 forces supercharged 1.4-liter unit 140 issuing forces. The last of them came to replace the old 4-cylinder engine with capacity 1.6.
Also for the model is available a 1.6-liter diesel. It is available in two versions – 115 and 136 horsepower.
The units can work in pairs with a six-speed manual gearbox. Also for all engines (except the two least powerful petrol) as an option, you can order a seven-speed automatic transmission with two clutches.
“Sid” was equipped with a system for changing the operating modes of the control electronics, changing the settings of the engine and steering. The surcharge is proposed a so-called “eco-bag”, which will include the active shutter in the grille (they are closed when necessary to reduce the coefficient of aerodynamic resistance), low suspension, a flat closed bottom and Michelin tires with reduced rolling resistance.
The company Kia calls the new generation hatchback Ceed the most technologically advanced in the segment. The equipment of the model include adaptive cruise control some functions of the machine from your smartphone, wireless charging for gadgets, audio the JBL, multimedia system (with five, seven or eight-inch screen), the system maintain tiering motion tracking dead zones, parking assistance and exit from parking space.
Production of the new Ceed will begin in May. European sales will begin in the summer. The model will be available in four versions: five-door hatchback, station wagon, liftback and all-terrain vehicle.
