The harbinger of the new cross – the H5X concept – the Indians showed in February this year. The product model will be built on the Land Rover Discovery Sport platform with a transverse engine arrangement (Tata owns Jaguar Land Rover). According to local media, the serial “SUV” will be named Harrier: an official statement should be made in the near future. Recall crossover with this name is in the lineup of Toyota, but this SUV is sold only in Japan and Malaysia.
The dimensions of the commodity version of the new Tata are still unknown. The length of the prototype H5X is 4 575 mm, width – 1 960 mm, height – 1 686 mm, wheelbase size is 2,740 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of Discovery Sport: 4 589/2 069/1 724 mm, the distance between the axles is 2741 mm.
According to preliminary data, Tata Harrier will not receive engines from the donor: instead of engines of the Ingenium family, the crossover will be equipped with a two-liter turbodiesel Fiat Multijet II with a capacity of 140 or 170 hp. The drive of the new Tata SUV will be front or complete. The model will be offered in five- and seven-seat versions.
In India, Harrier sales will begin in the first half of next year. Outside the home market, the new Tata crossover will most likely not get out.
Crossover Toyota Harrier of the current, third generation is built on the same platform as the current Toyota RAV4 (the Harrier of previous generations are Lexus RX clones). A year ago, the “Japanese” was updated: the model changed the exterior design and expanded the list of equipment. In addition, Toyota Harrier acquired a petrol turbo four 8AR-FTS 2.0 with a capacity of 231 hp, which is combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. The drive at the cross with this motor is front or full. Also in Japan, the Harrier is available with the same atmospheric 2.0 (151 hp) and a hybrid unit, which includes an Atkinson-powered 2.5-liter petrol engine (152 hp) and two electric motors (143 and 68 hp).
