Full-size pickup GMC Sierra of the new generation has received a complete set of Elevation. The base for it was a four-cylinder turbo with a volume of 2.7 liters.
Representation of a new line of full-size pickups of the concern General Motors has been stretched for six months: at the January Auto Show in Detroit introduced the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado, in early March showed a more prestigious GMC Sierra on the same platform, and now released information on another version of the Sierra model called Elevation .
The main feature of its appearance will be the complete absence of chrome: all exterior details are painted in the body color, not counting the black grille, insertion in the bumper and the edging of the wheel arches. And for this modification, you can order a set of off-road improvements under the index X31: shock absorbers Rancho, locking the rear inter-wheel differential, “distribution” with a downshift and electronic assistant descent from the mountain. However, the Sierra AT4 version still has the richest off-road capabilities.
And the main news is the engine. The base for GMC Sierra Elevation will be a new four-cylinder turbo L3B in volume of 2.7 liters. Its power is 310 horsepower, the maximum torque is 472 Nm, available in the range of 1500 to 4000 rpm. It works paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The same motor was recently announced for a related Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
The turbo engine was developed specifically for small tonnage trucks, and replaced the atmospheric V6 4.3, which Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra of the previous generation were completed in 2014.
Buyers of GMC Sierra Elevation will also be able to order the petrol V8 5.3 with the flexible cylinder shut-off system Dynamic Fuel Management (it can deactivate any number of cylinders, up to seven). With this motor, only an eight-speed automatic transmission is assembled. And in the spring of 2019 a six-cylinder turbo diesel Duramax LM2 with a capacity of three liters will be offered. On other modifications of the pickup a petrol engine V8 6.2 is also available. Both these motors are aggregated with a new ten-speed automatic transmission.
GMC Sierra Elevation 2019 model year will go on sale in North America in the coming autumn.
