Three-wheel 3ST from the Yamaha companyMay 2, 2019
A well-known Japanese manufacturer is preparing a new tricycle following the recently introduced Niken. Images of a motorcycle similar in design to the prototype presented in 2018 appeared in the European Patent Office.
Now that Yamaha has mastered the art of producing two-wheeled motorcycles, she is going to expand her range of three-wheeled vehicles with a new scooter. In an application published by the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on April 25, we are hinted at the serial version of the Yamaha 3CT prototype. Mule was presented at EICMA 2018 in Milan, as part of the “Urban Mobility” concept. That is, it is about a scooter.
Apparently the name 3CT is associated with another model of the brand – Tricity. Although it is unclear at the moment whether the 3CT will remain or, perhaps, it will be renamed the Tricity 300. It is expected that the new product will use the same 292-cc engine as the current XMax 300, delivering 28 hp of power. and 29 Nm.
The three-wheeler on the patent images differs from the prototype shown in Milan by the presence of mirrors and turn signals, as well as by a slightly modified saddle design. Although in general it looks like the same Tricity. The final version of the road scooter is supposedly shown at the November EICMA 2019 exhibition.
