In the spring of this year, Kia introduced the third generation of Ceed, and finally it was possible to test the novelty.
Observers of the British edition of Autocar noted that the model of the new generation has a more rigid front suspension, but a softer rear, andother stabilizers of lateral stability, which brings Ceed closer to handling the Ford Focus. This is facilitated by a more frisky steering compared to the predecessor: it has good feedback and weight, which leads this car into the top three of this class – in the position of the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf.
The 1.6-liter turbodiesel and 135-bp output have much better noise insulation than the prototype they tested a few months ago. But your choice is to stop on gasoline engines, after all. Six-speed manual transmission with its responsibilities is doing well. It is worth noting that the transmissions of this gearbox are slightly stretched. Count on the claimed 4 liters per 100 km a liter gasoline engine with a return of 118 forces is not worth it: colleagues recorded a result of 6.7 liters.
In the cabin everything is not bad: the sensory multimedia works quickly, the landing is convenient, there is plenty of room both in the front and in the back. But the situation is damaged by the painted plastic in chromium, which is dazzling in direct sunlight.
The interior of the new Ceed looks much better than its predecessor. Door cards, the front console, seats materials now like those of German competitors, there is a modern seven-inch multimedia system.
The 1.4-liter turbo-four works smoothly, and provides good dynamics, but what’s more surprising is how quietly it works. Couple with a six-speed manual transmission creates a good tandem, which is easy to manage.
On wheels R17, the new Ceed in Portuguese serpentines is sporty. But colleagues fear that on the roads of Britain, which are replete with hummocks, Ceed may seem harsh. It is possible that smaller wheels can improve the situation. With a sharp entry into the turn, the front of the car can sometimes lack the grip. However, Ceed – it’s still a family hatchback, which with its work is doing well.
The luggage compartment will also be pleased: it is bigger than the Golf and has a low loading height.
Overall, the new Ceed made a confident move toward class leaders – the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus, and with reasonable pricing can be a very attractive choice.
